The Plot
For years, people have accepted that Fate had chosen them a destined partner. They accepted the idea that Septimal Moon was the highest law of the Sentouki world. There was a firm belief in how the unit was set up and worked. The Sacrifice in charge, the Fighter in submission to their Sacrifice and their names connecting them for the rest of their life.
A small group of units resented this idea. They hated Fate for connecting them to another. Sure, they could mismatch their units or take on another name, but mismatched units were weak and there were only so many blanks they could taken on. For every one unit, two blanks were needed. The idea was frowned on. Why not, instead, go against what Fate has dubbed for the units and destroy the bonds that fate has given them? This small group broke off from Septimal Moon to create their own organization to stand against the bonds of Fate.
In order to stand against Septimal Moon and the bonds of a Unit, they had to figure out a way to make up for the lack of power a mismatched Unit or a single Fighter held, some, after all, worked best alone. What they did would change everything. Beginning with their own unit bonds, the five heads, the Cathedras Elementorum of this new organization, Transcendere Fatum, began working to sever that thread of Fate and create their own paths.
The head of this group, a Fighter going by the true name of Lament, was quite intelligent and resented control of his sacrifice. He had been a scientist at Septimal Moon, the head of the science division. The project he’d been working on? What made a mundane, a Sacrifice, and a Fighter? It had been a question plaguing the Sentouki for years.
His research continued after breaking off from Septimal Moon and although it took a few years to complete it, he came about a genetic abnormality in the Sacrifice and Fighters. It was evolution playing its hand when it came to the Sentouki. What connected the Unit was still a mystery, but he found that he could play with this DNA sequence. He did and what he created from that little strand of double-helix DNA was amazing. He could create his own Sentouki. A creation that could pose as both Fighter and Sacrifice and switch units at will. Their true name still existed, yes, but whether or not your current partner shared that name didn’t matter. What did matter was the individual power. Of course, his creations were more powerful working in tune with another…but he achieved what he’d wanted.
Only he knows how he did it, but shortly after he finished his research, that little DNA sequence he’d made wormed its way into the world. Children and teenagers yet to come into their name, but would likely wind up a Fighter or a Sacrifice in their world…became one of his new creations. They awoke to their True name, but not to their shared bond. Half of his plan had come to be…the other half was breaking current bonds. He, himself, was still bonded with his own Sacrifice.
What will you choose? Will you join the revolution against Fate? Or will you remain with the partner Fate has chosen?
