relentless pursuit(shizuka)

He was out of his mind, wasn't he? Definitely out of his mind...but was he ever there in the first place? He wanted this, though. He knew Shizuka would never say anything to him about it, so he probably should have done this sooner...but he had been waiting for Shizuka to ask. Perhaps waiting for her wasn't the smartest thing to do in the world? Now that he thought about it...wasn't it usually the guy who did everything? Why was he waiting for her, anyway? There was no reason for him to being waiting. It was just his own fear of rejection that was preventing him from saying anything, wasn't it?
"What do you think?" the question filtered in through Namok's ears as he turned to the woman who had asked him the question. She was holding a mirror so he could see his back and he smiled at her. "I love it! You did a really good job," he stated as the woman lightly wrapped a bandage around him and then putting his shirt back on, covering the tattoo he had just gotten. He was excited and honestly couldn't wait to show Shizuka when he saw her next. He wasn't sure how Caeli and Zar would take it, however. They both knew that he wasn't a blank, but he wasn't sure if they knew Shizuka wasn't a blank either and that they were a unit of their own. He knew both of them were aligned with Septimal Moon and they were highly prejudiced against mismatched units...he wasn't sure how either of them would take the idea that Namok had freely chosen to go against his name. Would they reject him for her? He wasn't sure he could handle their rejection if they did...but he always had Shizuka, right? It had been them before...and it could be them again. Caeli and Zaracki had become such a staple in his life that he wasn't sure how well his mind could take it if that suddenly changed.
He made his way over to the cash register to pay for his tattoo, ignoring the pain the radiated over his back and shoulders. Shizuka's name went down her back...and that's where he now shared that name. They had a bond together...they had been together for several years now...and now they shared their name. He always referred to himself more as the Relentless Sacrifice than Voluptous. That was Zar and Caeli's name now...Relentless was his. That's what he wanted. His fingers grazed lightly over his true name, ignoring the sting that touching it and the sting that just radiated from it. Was it because he was denying his name? Probably. He could ignore it though. That wasn't his name anymore.
He left the tattoo parlor, putting away his wallet. He was truly happy with things as they were. True names and Fate be damned. Granted, it wasn't like he had completely forsaken Caeli as his Fighter...surely, if it ever came up they could function as a unit...but he knew they'd never have a bond like Zar did with her. He and Shizuka could have their bond...but it would never be as strong as the one a true unit shared. He hated that. Shizuka was a strong fighter on her own, but he was weakening her by not being her true half. Why couldn't he have been her true half in the first place?!
Most Transcendere Fatum fighters had a rigorous course in spell battles, even the Sacrifices had a crash course in spells of their own...it was a course that Septimal Moon didn't offer because they felt that it was the Fighter's duty to protect the Sacrifice. The Sacrifice didn't need to know how to cast spells. Namok knew, he knew fairly well how to defend himself without a Fighter. Of course, he could never compare to a true fighter...but it was enough to get by.
As he made his way down the sidewalk, he could see two people out of the corner of his eye, following him. He'd been followed by enough of his fangirls to know how to tell these sorts of things. They weren't really too good at hiding themselves. Why were they following him? He wanted to find out. He turned into a secluded area in a back alley - if they showed up, then they were truly following him...if not, maybe he was being paranoid. When they showed up in the area, Namok was surprised to see the name Vehemence written across the female of the two's stomach, revealed by the clothing she was wearing. The other one, a male was staring at him with some form of disgust. Wait. He'd see them in the tattoo parlor. Why were the following him?
The male of two was speaking. "How surprised were we to see a unit half getting another name tattoo'd onto him that isn't his own!" he drawled as the girl nodded her agreement. "You're not a blank...Voluptous looks real," at the mention of the name he was throwing away, his fingers grazed across his neck and he snorted, managing to come back with a snappy comeback. "Why should what I do with my body concern you? Whether or not I chose to take on another name is my own business."
"Because you're going against everything!" the man snarled. "You can't go against your name! God gave us another half of us for a reason!" He paused in his almost fanatical adherence to the true name - definitely Septimal Moon...probably an alumni? Looked too old to be a student. They probably were a little bit older than he was? "Did your half throw you away?"
Namok rolled his shoulders in a shrug, rolling his ears. Vehemence definitely seemed to fit them to a key. "Let's get a few things straight. No - she didn't throw me away. It was mutual when we both said we had other halves - she took a blank, for the record...in case you wanted to go bitch at her too...although, good luck with that. She'd kick both your asses..." his head tilted to the side carefully as he thought about what else he wanted to add. "Another thing is that it shouldn't matter who you have as your Fighter, or your Sacrifice...names don't matter. The bond does..." He thought about it for another moment, having nothing else to add. "Besides, she could do /much/ better than you..." he stated tauntingly. "It's probably a good thing you are so adamant on names...otherwise..." he didn't even finish what he was saying before he was interrupted by the male Sacrifice yelling at his Fighter to 'attack!' Wow rude.
"Lightning as vehement as our name, strike terror into this heathen!" At this same moment, the Sacrifice yelled that they were declaring battle. Namok didn't even have time to put up a defense as the spell hit him. They hadn't even declared battle! And they were attacking a Sacrifice, no less that didn't even have his fighter with him. Electricity jolted through his skin as it sent him back into a wall. He hissed as his back hit the wall.
"Is this how Septimal Moon teachers their units? To attack in the middle of declaring battle and to attack a Sacrifice?" Namok spat as he rose, finally hearing the words of "I declare a spell battle." Not cool! He was a Sacrifice against a full-blown unit. Well. This sucks. He already had a restriction on him from that attack, the chains clamping heavily around his wrists.
"Call your Fighter...oh wait...she threw you away...mismatched units can't bond with each other! It goes against everything!" the vehement sacrifice laughed.
"Oh shut up. You sound like one of those religious freaks." Namok snapped. He lifted his shirt slightly, removed the bandage around his new name. It would be okay. He just had that feeling. The name Relentless was pleasantly warm against his skin. If Shizuka showed up with his call, then it just proved that mismatch units could survive too. He would just have to hold them off until then. He trusted Shizuka to show up...he honestly wasn't sure what they had planned if he lost anyway. They seemed rather violent, considering the fact that they had stalked and attacked a Sacrifice without their Fighter. "I'm the Sacrifice for Relentless...I don't care what anybody else says! Shizuka is my Fighter. I am her Sacrifice." He felt his True name burn harshly against his throat, angry with him...but he ignored it. It could be angry with him all it wanted to. He would be relentless. "Vehemence ignites as the flames relentlessly burn it!" His first spell using Relentless...his fingers grazed against Voluptous unrelentingly burning against his skin for using the name of another unit during a spell battle, as well as spells using that name. He didn't care. He was doing this for Shizuka, and for himself.
