❚ Ah, Akiba, one of the rarely enjoyed haunts. There was always a store with rows and rows of shoujo manga, or games, should he be interested enough. He didn't come here often, but on the occasion, it was nice to indulge, right? Besides, no one he knew ever knew he went there, so it was perfectly safe. No one would ever have to know. Surely, he would lose any and all respect from those that knew him if they knew what he was into on the side. He didn't want to be seen as a "weird person", even though he knew all too well that was what he honestly was.
However, he wasn't there for any romantic fantasy novels, or any shoujo manga this time. Nope, not at all. To be quite honest, he was feeling a little hungry for something nostalgic... something that he hadn't seen in some time, and he knew just the place. It wasn't the easiest place to find, but if you knew where it was, it was a gold mine of electronic relics that used to entertain him, and millions of other kids once upon a time. Yes, this time he was looking for some old games to play.
As he navigated the aisles of the store, he couldn't help but gently reach out and ever so fondly caress the plastic covers of the old game consoles, reflecting back on the days that he had played such machines for hours, or even days on end when he was younger. Yes, those were the days. Those were very tender, fond memories, indeed. In fact, recalling them almost brought a tear to his eye.
It was then that his hand brushed the old Super Nintendo Duck Hunt rifle. Ahh, Duck Hunt. How simple of a game you were, yet how much you made him want to go out and literally shoot things because of how ungodly annoying that dog laughing at you was. Why did they even put that in there? To be cute? Well, it wasn't, and he was certain quite a few people would have agreed with him. Oh well. At least it was a half decent game for the time. He had to give it that much. And there was that second player mode where another player could control the duck. That was always interesting... for about ten minutes. After that, he always packed it up and it was time for Contra. If there was anything he could have described as the epitome of awesomeness from an old video game, that was it. It was aggravatingly difficult at times, but oh so worth all the screaming, tears, and airborne controllers. It was oh so very worth all of it.
