Lucky paused for a moment to check her cell phone for the time. 4:00 PM, still a decent time to be out and about, and with enough time to finish the last of her errands and return to the dorms - not that she particularly wanted to, but life had decided to force some lifelong helplessness on her by making her a Sacrifice and unable to cast spells, so if she wanted to evade punishment for not being in the dorms, she had to be much more normally creative, and that was far too much effort to go to when there was nothing specific she was interested in doing. Which there wasn't. She wasn't a partier, so night clubs held no interest for her, and the only thing she occasionally really wanted, late at night, was McDonald's, and it was probably better for her health that she couldn't access it just whenever she felt like it...not that this knowledge was any consolation when all she wanted was a bag full of Big Macs to attempt to fill her unfortunately large appetite. Goddamned metabolism...
She continued walking, her pace steady. Occasionally she took advantage of her slender stature to slip through tied up knots of people, wishing she were taller so they would see her and move out of her way, rather than forcing her to dodge them. Ugh. It was so annoying to be so bloody small, and for a brief moment she wondered about those gigantic four-foot tall heels she'd seen on some pop star a few months ago, before dismissing the idea. Lucky was pretty sure she didn't have what it'd take to walk around in those all day, and she didn't even know how she'd be able to wear something almost as big as she was. Though it'd be great to tower above everyone, she didn't know if anyone would be intimidated by someone whose stature was half shoes. Then again, maybe they would be, if only by her clearly superior leg power and foot strength. How could someone even lift their feet in shoes that tall? But it'd be so nice to be a giant...
Her thoughts were interrupted by needing to stop for a light that had just turned green, inhibiting people from crossing, and she realized she'd walked straight past her destination, a bookstore. Swearing, she turned, and her face met someone's chest - hard. A new, longer stream of swearwords erupted as she removed her face from the other person's breasts. "Goddamn you're standing awfully close- oh bloody hell I hate these streets," she groused, pushing on the end of her nose, one of her odder nervous habits. Ugh.
